The Personal Trip Tracker is an effective, inexpensive and UNIQUE way for ITC members to get current road information while they are driving using an ITC itinerary.
What do ITC members use to get the information? Their cell phone or regular landline telephone at a rest stop or other stopping place.
Who does the ITC member call when they need info about the road ahead? The ITC member calls a personal third party (friend, family member, or business associate) that has access to the internet.
Then what does the ITC member do? The ITC member gives the personal third party just two numbers: the Trip Tracker Number of the itinerary they are driving on, and their approximate location along the itinerary.
Then what happens? A friend, for example, can then go to www.insidetrackclub.com, and click the Personal Trip Tracker button at the top of the home page and on the Trip Tracker page, key in the two numbers.
And....? The ITC member's complete itinerary is displayed on the screen with the member's current location clearly indicated. Now the friend can see where the member currently is, and, selecting items from the Down The Road Info, can recreate the member's itinerary to answer specific needs. If the member needs an inexpensive hotel 3 hours ahead, the friend easily see if there is such a hotel 3 hours ahead (and can then make reservations for the member). If the member needs to know the current weather ahead, the friend can link to current weather anywhere along the route ahead.
What if a "friend" or other personal contact can't be found when I need such information? We have agents standing by to assist ITC members with trip, concierge and emergency information needed. There is a charge for using these agent services, but ITC receives no profit from this.
These Personal Trip Tracker features sound similar to Onstar(R) television commercials. What's the difference? There are many similarities. But Onstar is 20 times more expensive and requires special equipment for each vehicle, where you have to pay installation fees. But it's more that costs: with ITC the complete itinerary can be recalled with just two numbers. An Onstar agent would have to ask you detailed information about where you are going, and the roads you will be taking in order to know your total route of travel. And how will the agent know where you will approximately be in 3 hours?
